About

September 14th, 2010

Chewy Kolchuk (might not be his real name, huh?) grew up in the temperate rainforests of SE Alaska.  Mountains, glaciers, the ocean and lots of rain were his companions as a young sproutling.  He also frequently encountered plenty of wildlife on his journey toward adulthood.  Having grown up in bear country, Chewy learned a bit about dealing with and avoiding big game, which is also why he’s now scared shitless of snakes and other silent, bitey, creepy crawlers.

From an early age, Chewy took an interest in riding his bicycle.  Many summer days were spent riding his BMX bike in places they just weren’t designed to go, in places that would perfectly suit the Mountain Bike when it would be invented in his late teen years.  But before that time, he simply didn’t know any better and he and his friends would challenge each other to see who could ride the furthest up a given trail before having to get off the bike and push it, or how long they could stay upright on a frozen lake during the winter time before completely eating it on the hard ice.

As an adult, Chewy has not only retained his interest in bicycles, but has had the pleasure and opportunity to work in the bicycle industry in all facets, from the lowly shoprat on up to working in some of the better shops in the Seattle area to being behind the scenes for a major bike brand.  Many friends have been made along the way with many miles and bicycles ridden, so that while Chewy no longer works in the cycling industry, he still helps provide support for various rides and races and loves seeing familiar faces at the events.

Chewy Kolchuk has since turned his attention to the Internets and all the nebulosity that that might entail.  As he builds his portfolio, he sees that the rabbit hole goes much deeper than he ever imagined it might, and this excites him.

Thank you for visiting my site.  I hope you enjoy the thoughts and images you find herein, however, there is a caveat.  Chewykolchuk.com is born of an irreverent mind containing a dark sense of humor and a prolific pottymouth at times, and while he is never malicious, visitors may be prone to offense at his views and verbage.  You may click on another link and leave here if at any time you desire to do so, after all, it’s the fuckin’ internet and there’s something here for everyone.

Have a wonderful day and don’t hurt anyone.
