Yesterday, Dave and Anna and I went out on their boat for some sun and water and generally just to complain about the sunny weather, and how terrible life is, and why would we even hang out together if we clearly don’t get along, you know what I mean?

The plan was to go out on the boat, and when it was time, they’d drop me off at the dock and I’d ride home from there.  Good plan.  Dave and Anna live east of my place and there’s both Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish between us as the crow flies.  The Burke-Gilman bike trail gets me out there in a safe fashion, away from cars, and so I usually go to/from their place that way, which is north around the lakes.  However, since the dock was on the south end of Lake Sammamish, I thought I’d try a new, more direct route home.  This one would take me along I-90 and pretty much directly west over Mercer Island and into downtown Seattle, where I’d take a right and head north to home.  Good plan.

I’ve posted a lot of stuff today. Not so much in many different posts, but I did a lot to the Photos page. Somewhere along the way, I needed to look up the proper spelling of a specific location in the Star Wars universe, so I googled the spelling. One of the resulting entries was WOOKIEPEDIA!!! How awesome is that? I laughed out loud right there in the coffee shop, freaking out people next to me.

At any rate, today I went through my folders and images and re-installed my galleries. I put the images up with no captions, but as they say, “A picture is worth 483 words”, right? We’ll see if I go back through and re-caption each one or not. Certainly not tonight. At any rate, on the header bar above, click on Photos and check it out. Maybe you’ll see something you hadn’t before.

1. I got sunburned pretty gnarly last Sunday. Went to Gasworks Park with Amy, an old friend from before high school, and threw the frisbee and shot the shit for 2 or 3 hours. The park is right on the water, so the wind was blowing pretty good, and I didn’t even know I was getting a burn until I got home and started whining. At least my shades gave me some nice Vanilla Ice lines on my temples.



Whenever I get off my bike, I notice that my forehead has a really funky shape to it after I take my helmet off…and when the helmet has been off for a while, letting everything go back to normal, I notice that I still look like a dolphin a little bit, with my forehead (fivehead at this point) protruding forward a bit.  I think my damaged scalp is retaining water or is just a little swollen due to 1st degree burn or something.  Awesome.  Regardless, I look like an idiot, which is only slightly different than the norm.

2. As you may or may not know, I’ve been going on and on about the band Mastodon as of late, and so here’s a new entry in the Mastodon Chronicles. I went to the show back in April, and I brought my camera. As it was dark and we picked a specific location to hang out because Doug’s knee had just been worked on, I didn’t get a lot of really worthy pictures, BUT… I got a couple good ones. Check them out here.
3. The NutterButter bike rocks. It’s a piece of garbage, but it cleaned up nicely and is in exceptionally good shape for a bike of its kind. Thanks, Dudeman!
4. I am currently at a coffee shop/bookstore/wifi cafe.  Seated behind me are a bunch of ladies in their early 20s, and in overhearing their conversation, I’m finding out that they do this once a month and it’s basically a SuperGeek Round Table.  I don’t consider myself to be a grandmaster world-class geek, but I am absolutely capable of geekery.  I don’t rate, however, compared to these ladies, whose conversation has run the entire spectrum from Star Trek  to xkcd.com to Twilight and Harry Potter to Roald Dahl to the internet in China to television actors in relation to the roles that they play and all points in between.  I don’t know if I’m dumber or smarter for having heard that conversation.  WHEW!
5. Getting back to work on restoring my image galleries. That’s that for now.

And of course, you’re expecting to hear all the gossip about what the hell was Danilo Di Luca thinking not using a TT bike on the final stage…how Denis Menchov ate crap with less than 1k to go and still won both the time trial AND the Giro overall….but no. Not today.

Tonight I was over at Brent and Kate’s, and we were watching the final stage when their beautiful daughter, Ruby, was able to show us her knowledge of Giro lore.

I apologize that the volume isn’t that high, since I recorded this with my cell phone, but you can hear her say ‘maglia rosa’ quite clearly.
