I looked at the date somewhere recently and it struck me that 2008 is 25% over already! And I thought, well geez what all has happened?
Here’s what has happened so far:
- I got sick twice in January, and got mostly over it just in time to
- Go on a trip to Egypt where I saw the most incredible sights ever
- Then I came back and got sick again
- A week or two later, my best friend died, so I went up to Juneau for the memorial
- I got food poisoning before leaving Juneau
- And 48 hrs after getting over food poisoning, I got the damn flu!
Variety is the spice of life? Bullshit, give me bland and boring, thank you. I just want to ride my bike, that’s all. Until then, though, here’s another random Egypt picture. Ram-headed sphinxes from the Avenue of the Sphinxes at Karnak Temple near Luxor.

I don’t what to say exactly, but I feel like I gotta get it out there for whatever reason. I got news this morning that my best friend, whom I’ve known since I was 3 or 4, passed away last night. Or yesterday. Kinda weird, the rainbow of feelings that go through you. In the span of a single conversation, I can be detached and speak matter of factly about it, and then my chest doesn’t work and my mouth doesn’t work, but the waterfall factory in the eyes does. Strange. I’ve never felt quite like this before.

While I have set up a photo gallery that’s connected to chewykolchuk.com, I’ve been told by a number of people, most recently The Mexican, that it is slower than Dom DeLuise after Thanksgiving dinner. Here, see for yourself.
So I went out and spent $25 to have a Flickr Pro login subscription thingie. It’s pretty cool. More importantly, it’s faster than the Pimbaserver and you, the viewer, can download the photos in a number of sizes if you want. Just remember that I know who you are, so if you use the images for illicit purposes, I won’t be happy. Anyway, here’s the link to my Flickr page. I’ll make a permanent link to it somewhere around here. Nonetheless, you might bookmark it for ease of use. Oh yeah, and I bought a new camera just before I went on my trip to Egypt, so the photos are a bit better than the ones I’ve taken in the last 3 or so years.

And when the walls of all those 5000-yr-old temples have thousands of pictures on them, you sort of run out of words. I had no idea that Mom took this picture, but it kinda says it all. I’m still sifting through all the pics that Mom, Nan, Susan, Kathy and I took, and I’ll have to procure permission from everyone before showing them on the web, but as soon as possible, I’ll show you more.
